Product Description

Our Traditional Toybox is a hand-crafted wooden toy or hobby box which can be personalised to customer order with a specially engraved front or lid panel. It is much larger than many of the toy storage boxes available in High Street stores or advertised on the internet, able to hold a great many more toys, dressing-up costumes, art materials, hobby items and the like.

Designed with quality furniture in mind, the colour, style and finish of the Toybox will suit both traditional and contemporary living environments - family rooms, play areas, nurseries and bedrooms.

A Traditional Toybox is a special gift for children - giving their toys and hobbies a home.

Materials & Finish

The Traditional Oak Toybox is crafted using solid oak timber and oak veneered birch ply panels, assembled with concealed corner leg fixings and specially designed lid hinges and safety supports. No MDF or particle board is used. It is finished with a light stain and satin varnish to all surfaces, which enhances the oak grain and produces a smooth durable surface with a natural light honey colour.

From time to time we produce limited edition Toyboxes in lacquered paint or other finishes which may use alternative wood species but are finished to no lesser standard as our natural oak finish Toyboxes.

Sizes & Weights

The net weight of the Traditional Toybox is 21.5kg. The maximum dimensions of the Traditional Toybox are:

-    Outside (including lid): 905mm (L) x 480mm (W) x 470mm (H)

-    Inside: 780mm (L) x 390mm (W) x 420mm (H)

Fully packed for transit, a part-assembled Toybox parcel is 97cm(L) x 56cm(W) x 18cm(H) and its weight is 23kg.

Lid Safety

Our Toybox lids are fitted with our own specially designed hinges and separate safety supports which are both robust for everyday repeated use and prevent the lid from falling or closing by itself and trapping fingers. The lid holds open by itself at any angle up to 90° (upright).

Engraved Panels

The Traditional Toybox can be supplied with plain panels or personalised to customer order with a specially engraved front or lid panel in numerous styles. Engraving is performed by a high resolution laser which evaporates (not burns) the wood away, leaving a beautiful and permanent contrasting natural woodgrain engraving of the name, initials or other graphic.

If you have your own design idea for laser engraving onto the front panel or onto the lid panel, or would like a coloured infill engraving, please enquire for a special order quotation.

Part Assembled or Fully Assembled

Our Toyboxes are designed to be finally assembled by the customer. This significantly reduces the packaging and delivery costs and the risk of damage in transit. Most parcel carriers exclude compensation for damage to or loss of furniture which is not 'flat-packed'.

The assembly process is quite straightforward using an Allen Key (provided), a small flat-head screwdriver (not provided) and our easy-to-follow illustrated instructions enclosed with each Toybox. Assembly should take no more than 10 minutes.

We are happy to supply our Toyboxes fully assembled ready for use where collected by the customer in person.

Replacement Parts

If any of the panels (including the lid) or other components of your Traditional Toybox become damaged and/or you wish to replace them, please enquire for a replacement parts quotation. We will endeavour to make and/or supply replacement parts in a timely manner and at reasonable cost.

We endeavour to maintain similar colour shades and standards of finish from one production batch to the next, but the grain of wood can vary significantly. Exposure to sunlight and the natural process of ageing also change the colour of wood over time. Replacement parts are therefore supplied only on the basis that a close match to existing colour/grain is unlikely. Generally however, these colour/grain variances are present in all of our toyboxes from new and increase their hand-crafted aesthetic appeal.
